Production and development of science via designing and conducting basic and applicable researches in the field of obesity in order to provide appropriate solutions for obesity related health problems, and facilitating policies and strategies in the health system.

Attaining highest scientific ranking among obesity research centers in the country in the next five years, and also among obesity research centers of Middle East region during the next decade by designing and conducting related researches
Priorities
Interventional studies on obesity with emphasis on children and adolescents
1- To design and compile obesity prevention training packages
2- To design and implement interventions on primary prevention from obesity
3- To design and implement the interventions on secondary prevention from obesity
Epidemiologic studies, development of tools for diagnosis of obesity and determining cutoff-points
1- Tool development and psychometric researches regarding obesity questionnaires.
2- Study of epidemiological body composition in various age groups
3- Relation of visceral fat with cardiovascular risk factors, surrogates and cardiovascular outcomes

1- Biochemical assessment of obesity
2- Genetics studies of obesity
3- Environmental (focused on Microbiological aspects) studies of obesity

1- Generation of creativity, innovation and recruiting professional human resources
2- Accomplishment of epidemiological research in the field of obesity in various age and sex groups
3- Accomplishment of basic research in the field of hormonimix and metabolomics genetics of obesity
4- Accomplishment of cross-sectional, cohort and case-control studies in order to investigate obesity complications
5- Design and execution of the interventional researches on obesity prevention and treatment
6- Collaboration with two other centers of the research institute on human resource training in the field of endocrinology and metabolism and holding the short-term and long-term courses and training research workshops
7- Generation of appropriate knowledge and publication of research finding on current issues in obesity to inform and train the community; consulting with health, treatment and medical training authorities of the country and international organization
